Our Story

Flowers are our love language.

Hi friend!  If you’ve landed here, chances are that flowers are your love language too.

My name is Emily Fons Krause and I am the founder and lead florist at Star & Petal. As a corporate attorney working long hours, I craved a creative outlet.  Since 2018, I have been arranging flowers for small parties and weddings, setting colorful tablescapes, teaching a winter wreath making workshop and filling my home with fresh flowers.  Any chance I got to make an arrangement - I took it.  Then, the premature birth of my first daughter (my Petal) forced me to reset my priorities and cut back on my long hours at the law firm.  During nap times, I learned as much as I could about the principles of floral design.

In the summer of 2024, my second daughter was prematurely born (my Star) and passed away when she was two months old from complications related to a genetic disorder.  During this unthinkable time, it was my friends who sent me flowers and rose bushes for my garden.  Creating beautiful floral arrangements brings me closer to my Star and lets me live a life of full bloom with my Petal.

A portion of Star & Petal’s profits is donated to organizations that support families of premature babies.
